Four worlds, one platform

SakuraXR is a multi-scene WebXR experience built on Three.js. The opening environment is a sakura hub — an outdoor scene with an energy portal, an interactive Claude robot, and a spatial scene picker panel. From there you can travel to three other worlds. It started as a testbed for locomotion, grab interactions, spatial UI, and VFX systems. It ended up being worth spending time in.

Where you can go

Sakura Hub — the persistent home base. An energy portal built from 300 particles orbiting in rings with additive blending sits as a visual anchor. The Claude robot plays a chime when you approach and tracks your movement. A plant is distance-grabbable. The scene picker panel is a spatial UI object you interact with to travel.

Imperial Star Destroyer Hangar — the interior of a hangar bay, with the Imperial March playing. 20-metre bounds give you room to move around the structure.

Sagano Bamboo Forest — dense bamboo, quiet. After a six-second pause, an Akira motorcycle drives through at speed. Appears, makes its run, disappears.

The Matrix White Room — Morpheus in a long black coat. Matrix rain runs on the TV screens: procedural Japanese characters falling on a CanvasTexture at a 50ms tick, green and white. You spawn high up, looking down into the room.

How you move

In VR (Meta Quest, and Apple Vision Pro via Safari): thumbstick locomotion with BVH-accelerated collision, point-and-click on spatial UI panels with controllers, and distance grab with hand tracking. Hold both thumbsticks for two seconds to return to the hub from any scene.

On desktop: WASD and arrow keys for movement, OrbitControls for camera rotation. On mobile: the UI menus are touch-interactive and the view supports pinch-to-zoom. All three modes share the same spatial UI panels.
